A Special Letter from Dr. Melynda Huskey

Department: Division of Student Affairs

Greetings WSU Students,

I hope you’ve been enjoying the warmer weather, blossoming trees and flowers, and all that comes with spring on the Palouse.

While this time of year brings anticipation for summer fun, it can also be really stressful. You might be feeling overwhelmed by the number of assignments due, papers to complete, and final exams to prepare for. I encourage you to stay focused and do your best. And please remember to take care of yourself by taking regular breaks from studying, getting enough sleep, and exercising. There’s plenty of research to show that it will help you succeed better than all-nighters, too much caffeine, and pushing yourself to the limit.

Please know there are many professionals within Student Affairs eager to support you in any way we can. For example, we offer free tutoring services, stress-reliever activities, and counselors if you need someone to talk to. This website lists our many departments and provides links to many valuable campus resources. Please take advantage of them in the last weeks of the semester!

To those of you graduating this spring. Job well done! We are all so proud of you! For those of you staying in town to take summer classes, we’ll be here too, ready to help when you need us. And if you’ll be away until fall semester, stay safe, have fun, and we’ll see you when you get back!.

As you head out, please remember to drive safely. Put your phone away, don’t drive tired, and be careful on the road. We cherish each one of you, and we want you to make it home safely.

Have a great summer!

Melynda Huskey, Ph.D. Interim Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students
